The Holosun IRIS laser aiming device comes in a compact module design. It mounts to a Picatinny rail using screw-tightened clamping jaws. The IRIS module features four operating modes with two intensity levels. The user can select a red laser, IR laser, IR illuminator, or a combination of the IR laser and IR illuminator.

The device is powered by a CR123A battery, with a red LED indicating a low battery level. The housing is made of aluminum, and components exposed to moisture are sealed, allowing the device to meet the IPX8 waterproof rating. For precise zeroing, the user can adjust the projected beam both vertically and horizontally.

The 635 nm red laser provides good contrast against the surroundings, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. The 850 nm IR laser and IR illuminator enable operation in low-light conditions when used with night vision equipment. Night vision devices can gain additional functionality when paired with the integrated IR illumination module.

The slightly raised button positioned in the center of the housing provides ergonomic operation. This makes the device comfortable to use for both right- and left-handed users. The aiming device also comes with a remote pressure switch on a cable, allowing the user to position the activation switch in the most convenient location.

The redesigned construction provides a significantly lower profile and reduced weight compared with the second generation. The mode and intensity selector is located at the rear of the aiming device and can be easily operated with the thumb or another finger. When the device is not in use, it can be stored or transported in the included padded carrying case with dedicated compartments for individual components.
